DANVILLE - The first Saturday in May can mean only one thing: It's time for Danvillie's 28th annual Spring Fling.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Rivertown Half Marathon race will start at 9 a.m., traveling down Mill Street. People are encouraged to bring their cow bells to cheer on the runners.

Entertainment begins at 10 a.m.

"We have around 200 vendors. They will be selling hand-crafted items such as furniture, jewelry, clothing and homemade salsa and sauces," said Valerie Shultz, owner of D's Clothier, 226 Mill St., and a member of the Spring Fling promotions committee.

The annual event is sponsored by the Danville Business Alliance.

Mill Street will be closed to traffic. There will be a free shuttle bus running from the Danville Area Middle School.

Shultz noted all the entertainment is family-friendly for all ages. Among the entertainers is Woody Wolfe, who sings children's songs and plays guitar.

All entertainment will take place in Canal Park next to the Danville Borough building.

"There will be several game stands and tons of food," Shultz said. "It is a great event, family-friendly, and there is truly something for everyone."

Most of the local merchants will offer special discounts the day of the Spring Fling.
