Softball league to hold second annual Fall Fest, 'Haunted Trail'
COAL TOWNSHIP - The Shamokin/Coal Township Lady Bombers Softball League will hold its second annual Fall Fest and "Haunted Trail" Oct. 4 and 5.
The community is invited to attend the spooky event at the softball field off Venn Access Road near the Northumberland County Career and Technology Center.
The Haunted Trail will be held from dusk until ? Friday and Saturday, the Fall Fest will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. until ?.
Attractions at the Fall Fest include a 75-foot inflatable obstacle course, hay maze, face painting, pumpkin decorating and games.
Food, including chicken sandwiches, homemade soups, hot dogs and traveling tacos, will be available for purchase. Basket raffles for a DeWalt cordless drill, 32-inch LCD TV, DVD recorder, a Nook, a Razor Scooter, and a boys- and girls-16-inch bike will be held 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
"Our haunted trail will be twice as long as last year," said league representative Christin Hughes. "It has many more twists and turns, ghouls galore, zombies and clowns. It will be a sure scare."
All activities will be run by league members, volunteers and several Shamokin High School students who volunteered as part of their senior projects.
Hughes said the event is the biggest fundraiser for the league that last season consisted of 130 girls ages 4 through 14 who played on 10 teams.
All proceeds will go to the league to purchase maintenance equipment and improve the field.
