Shamokin to crown 4 queens as part of 150th celebration
SHAMOKIN - The Shamokin's 150th Anniversary Committee will host a contest to crown four queens in four age groups.
Age 18 and older will crown a queen, ages 13 to 17 will crown a teen queen, ages 8 to 12 will crown a junior miss queen and ages 3 to 7 will crown a little queen.
All participants must resident within the Shamokin Area School District, be a female participant who is at least age 3 or older, raise funds during the designated 8-week period only and complete a registration form by March 15 and drop it off or mail it to Independence Fire Association, 100 N. Market St., Shamokin.
Each dollar raised counts as a vote. The female participant who has the most votes in each age group wins the title for that age group.
All participants will receive a crown/tiara, sash, flowers, trophy and other gifts, and they will ride on the Queens's Float in the Sesquicentennial parade July 5.
