COAL TOWNSHIP - A story in Thursday's edition inaccurately said John Kodack, 31, of 1528 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, was involved in traffic accidents Monday morning and Tuesday night.

Coal Township Police Department had said Wednesday that both accidents involved the same person, but police confirmed Thursday the two accidents involved different John Kodacks, the man from Coal Township as well as John M. Kodack, 30, of 233 S. Sixth St., Shamokin.

Police said charges are pending against the John Kodack from Coal Township, who they said fled from the scene of a two-vehicle accident Tuesday night at State and Jackson streets.

Police said he was driving a 2005 Ford Focus east on State Street at 10:15 p.m. when his car went through the intersection with Jackson Street and crashed into a fence at the rear of 1730 W. Mulberry St.

The car then hit a parked Jeep in the yard. The Jeep was pushed into an enclosed trailer, which was pushed into a garage.

Police reported Kodack fled the scene on foot, but he was taken into custody at his residence for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The trailer and garage sustained moderate damage and his car was towed from the scene by Anthracite Towing.
