SHAMOKIN - Despite some rainfall, the city's annual Halloween parade was a success Wednesday night.

Costumed children and adults paraded downtown among floats, fire trucks and more. Refreshments were sponsored by The News-Item and F&B Bank.

Kulpmont's parade will be held Thursday. Registration will start at 6 p.m. in Holy Angels parking lot, 855 Scott St. The event has been sponsored by the Kulpmont Lions Club for the past 30 years.

After the parade, all participants are invited to the West End Fire Company for hot chocolate and hot dogs. Lions members will be accepting donations to help defray the cost of the parade.

Mount Carmel's Halloween parade is set for 11 a.m. Saturday. Also scheduled for Saturday morning is a 5K race and one-mile fun run hosted by Mount Carmel Downtown Inc. In the evening, Mount Carmel Area Alumni will host a banquet.
