Security videos sought for Sunbury stabbing investigation
SUNBURY - In conjunction with their homicide investigation into the death of Troy LaFerrara, 42, of Port Trevorton, city police are requesting any business between Sheetz and Aldi's along Routes 11-15 with surveillance camera video that shows traffic from noon Nov. 11 until the present to contact the department immediately at 570-286-4587.
Miranda Kamille Barbour, 18, of 101 N. Water St., Selinsgrove, who reportedly was paid for companionship after meeting men through the Internet, was charged Tuesday with stabbing to death LaFerrara sometime between Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 and dumping his body in Sunbury.
Barbour, who recently moved to the area from North Carolina, is accused of stabbing LaFerrara 20 times after she claimed the victim groped her and grabbed her by the neck inside her vehicle. LaFerrara's body was found shortly before 11:30 a.m. Nov. 12 near a garage at the rear of 240 Catawissa Ave.
The defendant, who is believed to be the only suspect in the murder, told authorities she discarded the knife used in the stabbing into the Susquehanna River along Routes 11-15 south of Selinsgrove about six days ago.
