The Mount Carmel Area Board of Education Merit Award winner for November at the high school level is senior Justin Weaver, a son of Karen and Harry Weaver, of Kulpmont.

Weaver is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish club and tech ed and is on the honor roll. He enjoys hanging out with friends and family and playing guitar in his spare time.

Weaver was nominated by tech education teacher Keith Fourspring who has known Weaver since he was in ninth grade.

Fourspring said Weaver is a consistent worker who is always dedicated, trustworthy and safe.

"I have to intensify parameters of each project so Justin doesn't get too far ahead of the rest of the class. Justin always has a positive attitude and will even aid other students on assignments if they appear to be struggling," Fourspring said. "Justin is an excellent student and always strives to do well. He is very trustworthy and is a model student."

After graduation, Weaver plans to attend Bloomsburg University to major in criminal justice.
