MCA Elks Students of the Month - May

Student of the Month

The Elks Student of the Month for May is senior Justin Weaver, a son of Harry and Karen Weaver, of Kulpmont. Justin is president of the Tech Ed club, participates in Spanish club, and has previously won the school board merit award. He is on the distinguished honor roll and enjoys playing guitar, hanging out with friends, and fishing. Justin plans to attend Luzerne County Community College in the future for nursing.

Junior Student of the Month

The junior student of the month is 11-grade student Maddie Watkins, a daughter of Walter and Amy Watkins, of Mount Carmel. Maddie is involved in peer mediation, Interact club, Science club, varsity basketball, cheerleading, track and field, Future Teachers of America, student council, the high school musical, was a member of the 2014 homecoming court and and is a member of the Nate's Mates organization. She was inducted into the National Honor Society and published in a Creative Communication poetry book. Her future plans are to attend a 4-year college.

Teen of the Month

The Elks Teen of the Month is ninth-grade student Marissa Kleman, a daughter of Joseph and Marie Kleman, of Locust Gap. She is a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the homecoming float committee, and plays soccer, basketball and track and field. Marissa is on the distinguished honor roll, and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She participated in science olympiad, won the Presidential Fitness Award, and is in Who's Who Among Students. Her interests include reading, watching movies and spending time with family, friends and her dog. Her future plans are to attend college to study pharmacology.

Junior Teen of the Month

The Junior Teen of the Month is seventh-grade student Nicholas Vincenzes, a son of Ray Vincenzes, of Kulpmont, and the late Kelly Vincenzes. Nick plays basketball, football, enjoys riding BMX and dirt bikes and four wheelers. He likes working with mechanical things and likes the NBA. He enjoys building things and would someday like a career in the construction field.
