NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Southern Columbia Area High School's FBLA digital video team placed third at the Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn., held July 12 to July 17.

The team was comprised of three 2010 graduates - Shane Yeager, Jared Levan and Brandon Talisesky. They were accompanied by their business teacher, Christina Force, and her daughter, Leighton.

Their goal was to create a digital video that would educate employees on methods of deterring theft in retail business.

Local business managers and owners from Boyer's Food Market, Elysburg; Crystal Ann Creations, Elysburg; Beiter's Department Store, Danville, and Weis Markets, Bloomsburg, graciously let the students use their stores for staging as well as educating the students on the use of their devices. Some of their customers also participated.

All three students had key positions in the Tiger-News High School TV Production Club. They credit their adviser, Brent Kelchner, for introducing them to studio work and allowing them to use the club's equipment.

Levan, a son of Louise and Jeff Levan, Numidia, will be attending Lycoming College, where he will major in marketing and digital video. Talisesky, a son of Donna and Bruce Talisesky, Elysburg, will be attending Saint Joseph's University to major in business. Yeager, a son of Rae Jean and Ron Yeager, Elysburg, will be attending Salisbury University in Maryland to major in digital video production.
