SCA board sworn in

CATAWISSA RR - New and re-elected members were sworn in during Southern Columbia Area's school board meeting Monday.

Jennifer Oiler-Shoup, of Catawissa, was the only new member to take the oath. Taking the oath after being re-elected were Mike Yeager, Charles Porter, Tim Vought and Eric Stahley. Paul Starr was reappointed to serve as Region II representative.

Yeager and Porter were re-appointed as president and vice president, respectively.

Other business

The board meeting schedule for 2010 was approved. The meeting dates are as follows: Jan. 11 and 18, Feb. 8 and 15, March 8 and 15, April 12 and 19, May 10 and 17, June 14 and 21, July 19, Aug. 9 and 16, Sept. 13 and 20, Oct. 11 and 18, Nov. 8 and 15 and Dec. 6. All meetings will be held in the library at 7:30 p.m., with the exception of the December meeting, which will be announced.

The board also approved the hiring of Marissa Petrone as secondary learning support teacher, effective Jan. 4 at a salary of $38,457.

Danielle Latsha was approved as middle school emotional support teacher, effective Jan. 4, at a salary of $40,554.

Cheyenne Wilson was approved as a part-time paraprofessional for kindergarten, working three hours per day, effective Dec. 8.

Kayla Greco was added to the 2009-2010 substitute list for English, effective Dec. 8.

Shannon Gaul-Dickey was approved as a volunteer assistant girls basketball coach for the 2009-2010 year.

Lisa Fleishauer's status was changed from half-time paraprofessional to school nurse for the secondary building, effective Dec. 8, at a salary of $23,160.

The board accepted the resignation of Kimberly Delbo as registered nurse for the high school, effective Dec. 14. Delbo has been with the district since August 2007.

The board also accepted the resignation of Lisa Long as a four-hour paraprofessional with the gifted program, effective Dec. 23. Long has been with the district since October of 2008.
