Receives fellowship award
TROY, N.Y. - Evan Karl Day, a son of Matt and Lauren Day, of Elysburg, was selected to receive the prestigious National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Award. This fellowship program helps ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science and engineering in the United States and reinforces its diversity. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions. Day, who was the 2010 Southern Columbia Area salutatorian, graduated magna cum laude this spring from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering. Day will continue his doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
