ELYSBURG - The Ralpho Township Board of Supervisors was informed Monday night at its reorganization and regular meeting it is eligible for approximately $80,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
Jamie Shrawder, project coordinator of community development with SEDA-Council of Governments, said she will be requesting quotes for three different firms from the board's projects that will be paid in part from their 2012 allocation.
The money, from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will be used for demolition for a township property and the replacement of Ralpho Township Municipal Authority sewer lines, she said.
Shrawder also told supervisors the 2013 process may be held up from some of the recent gridlock in the national government, but she will be starting the application process as if it is a normal year.
The first public hearing for 2013 allocation must be held in March, and the project review must be held in April, she said.
The final public hearing and deadline for the application process is in June, she said.
The supervisors said they will be combining some of the 2013 money with the 2012 money to pay for last year's projects.
During the reorganization part of the meeting, Chairman William "Chip" Wetzel relinquished his position, and Supervisors Vince Daubert and Blaine Madara nominated Supervisor Stephen Major as the new chairman, therefore relinquishing his position of vice chairman. The motion passed 4-0 with Major abstaining.
Wetzel and Madara nominated Daubert as the new vice chairman, and the motion passed 4-0 with Daubert abstaining.
