Rally for Religious Freedom planned today
HARRISBURG - From noon to 1 p.m. today, concerned citizens will hold a Rally for Religious Freedom from noon to 1 p.m. on the Capitol steps to voice public opposition to the Obama administration's Health and Human Services mandate.
According to the Diocese of Harrisburg. the HHS mandate forces all employers, even religious institutions such as Roman Catholic hospitals and universities, to offer contraceptives, sterilizations and abortion-inducing drugs through their health plans, contrary to their religious beliefs and doctrines.
Harrisburg is joining more than 100 other cities across the country for the nationwide Stand Up for Religious Freedom rallies, including New York, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Miami. Find more information at http://Standupforreligiousfreedom.com.
The Harrisburg Religious Freedom Rally has been organized by Tom Torchia in conjunction with the Pro-Life Action League. Special guest speakers include Peg Luksik, Father Peter Hahn and Father John Benarik.
Also, at noon today, diocesan Bishop Joseph P. McFadden will lead a recitation of the rosary for the intention of preserving and defending the constitutionally guaranteed right to religious liberty live from the studios of Holy Family Radio WHYF AM 720 in Shiremanstown.
