COAL TOWNSHIP - The public is encouraged to join in the annual Memorial Day March and Veterans Salute in the township and Shamokin Monday.

The march will form at the Arch Street playground in the 1200 block of Arch Street and move out at 9 a.m. It will stop at the Timothy A. Diorio Memorial, where a wreath will be laid to honor the volunteer firefighter killed in the line of duty.

It will continue to the David A. Witmer Memorial at Sixth and Independence streets in Shamokin, where area police departments will play a wreath in the slain officer's memory.

Area fire departments will lay a wreath at the Fireman's Memorial on Market Street in Shamokin, after which the march will continue to the Price of Freedom Memorial along Lincoln Street, where a memorial service and tribute will be held to honor all fallen veterans.
