WASHINGTONVILLE - Explore the natural history and folklore of the Great Horned Owl during a program from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at PPL's Montour Environmental Preserve.

Jon Beam, PPL senior naturalist, will begin the program by reading Jane Yolen's story book, "Owl Moon." Visitors will explore the history of Great Horned Owls, learn to identify the birds and hear about unique behaviors. The program will include a discussion about other owls found in the area.

Program participants will venture outdoors and try to call a Great Horned Owl.

The free program will take place in the Environmental Education Center. For more information, contact the preserve at 437-3131 or jdbeam@pplweb.com.

PPL operates the preserve, about four miles west of Washingtonville, in conjunction with the Montour power plany in Derry Township.
