Police throw party for 30 needy children

SHAMOKIN - The Shamokin and Coal Township Police Departments held their annual children's Christmas party at the Independence Fire Company Wednesday night.

At the party, gifts and clothes were provided to approximately 30 children in the area. Monetary, toy and clothing donations were provided by local businesses and individuals.

Each child who attended the party was provided with numerous gifts from Santa. Food and snacks, which also were donated, were provided.

Special thanks are extended to the following for either donating or helping organize the party:

1-vehicle crash SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - A Winfield woman escaped injury after losing control of her car on Route 61 just south of Holly Road Saturday, according to state police at Stonington. Dahnya N. Heim, 32, was heading north on Route 61 around 4:44 p.m.
