COAL TOWNSHIP - The victim of Saturday evening's fatal motorcycle accident in Coal Township was identified as Geoffrey T. Michalesko, 23, of 165 Page Ave., Apartment A, Kingston, according to the Coal Township Police Department.

Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley reported that Michaleski was pronounced dead at the Route 54 scene at 8:15 p.m. by Deputy Coroner James Gotlob.

The cause of death was attributed to "multiple blunt force trauma" and manner of death was deemed "accidental," said Kelley.

According to the official police report, Michalesko was traveling west at 7:36 p.m. Saturday on Route 54 towards Elysburg on a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle when he crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.

Michalesko struck the side mirror of a 2003 Honda Accord being driven east by Dustin C. Tolbert, 32, of 14381 Penn Dixie Lane, Greencastle.

When Tolbert noticed the motorcycle, he swerved and Michalesko continued off the roadway and struck the rock wall that runs along the east side of the road.

Tolbert said the man flipped nearly 20 feet into the air before landing on the eastbound lane.

The scene was blocked off by Ralpho Township fire trucks. Traffic was reduced to one lane around the scene of the accident.

Michalesko was wearing a helmet, the coroner reported.

Tolbert, his wife, Teri, 26, and their two children, Alyssa, 7, and Makenna, 3, were not injured in the accident, said police.

His vehicle was driven from the scene.
