ZERBE TOWNSHIP - A Shamokin woman escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash during icy conditions at 10:30 p.m. Friday on Upper Road.
State police at Stonington say Shannon M. Coutts, 30, was traveling north on Route 2044 in a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer and negotiating a right turn when she lost traction. Her SUV went down an embankment.
Police said due to conditions, she would not be cited.
Turkey Hill theft
MOUNT CARMEL - An employee at Turkey Hill has been charged with stealing from the store.
Mount Carmel Borough Police charged Kevin A. Collins, 44, of 334 S. Hickory St., with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft by failing to make required disposition of funds.
According to court documents, Collins, while employed as a clerk at the convenience store at Fifth and Market streets, would take items and consume them, and take money from the register for voided transactions that he would make while on duty.
Total loss to the store is $208.02.
Charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 11.
ELIZABETHVILLE - Jordan A. Backes, 20, of Shamokin, was cited for retail theft by state police at Lykens after allegedly attempting to steal items from the Walmart at 200 Kocher Lane, Washington Township, at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge Rebecca Jo Margerum, Elizabethville.
MAHONING TOWNSHIP - Tiesha Lisa Shakira White, of Danville, a patient at Danville State Hospital, was charged twice with harassment by state police at Milton following incidents at the institution Tuesday.
At 9:35 a.m., White allegedly struck Elaine Heckman, Danville, several times in the back, causing a bruise. At 5:20 p.m., she allegedly pulled Stephanie Iqbal, Danville, off a chair and kicked her several times, according to police.
Charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Marvin K. Shrawder, Danville.
