GIRARDVILLE - Sunny weather, the largest lineup and a huge crowd made for a standout seventh annual St. Patrick's Day parade Saturday in Girardville.

"The turnout is the biggest one ever, by far," said parade Chairman John P. "Mouche" McNelis. "There are crowds of people all along the parade route. I don't know what the final number for parade entries, but I know we're between 240 and 250 units. Last year we had 212."

"We're growing, and I know the weather had a lot to do with it," he said, referring to temperatures near 70 degrees that drew crowds out to enjoy the parade sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians Jack Kehoe Division No. 1.

Tradition continued inside St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with the annual Mass for members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
