Our Lady of Mount Carmel CCW
MOUNT CARMEL - The Council of Catholic Women and Rosary Altar Society of Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel held their monthly meeting Oct. 3 in the parish hall. Theresa Conniff, president, brought the meeting to order with the prayer to Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Good Counsel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Dianne Darrah gave the secretary's report, and Debbie Gownley presented the treasurer's report.
The pilgrim statue will be at Divine Redeemer Church from 4 p.m. Nov. 14 through noon Nov. 15.
The next Council of Catholic Women convention will be held May 5 at the Cardinal Keeler Center in Harrisburg.
There will be a free giveaway of coats, hats, scarves, gloves and boots on Nov. 11 in the parish hall.

The Rev. Frank Karwacki invited everyone to a screening of the movie, "Of Gods and Men," to be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the parish hall. The movie is based on the book, "The Last Monk of Tibhirine," and recounts the story of the 1996 attack on monks by radical Muslims in Algeria. All the monks were killed, except one. The book will also be sold at the screening.
The meeting was closed with prayers for active, sick and deceased members.
The hostesses for the next meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 will be Carol Panko and Angie Hornberger.
Refreshments were served, followed by bingo.
