Organization News: Northumberland District Council of Catholic Women
MOUNT CARMEL - The Northumberland District Council of Catholic Women held its deanery meeting at 2 p.m. Aug. 18 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Elaine Jurgill, deanery president, called the meeting to order. Members joined in saying the prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Lois Sejuit did the Bible enthronement. Theresa Conniff, parish host president, welcomed everyone.
In the absence of the Rev. Frank Karwacki, Carol Altomare, council president of Divine Redeemer, installed new officers: Elaine Jurgill, director at large, Rosemary Boyer, president, Elaine Jurgill, vice president, Dianne Darrah, secretary, Nancy Madigan, treasurer.
Roll call was taken and the minutes stand approved as read. The treasurer's report was given.
An anniversary Mass and celebration for couples married 25 years or more will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 during Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Dinner will follow.
An appreciation dinner for the priest will be held Oct. 9 at Wayside Inn. Cost is $15.
The Pilgrim Virgin statue will be at Divine Redeemer Church from 4 p.m. Nov. 14 until Nov. 15.
The next meeting will be held in November at Divine Redeemer.
The meeting was closed with prayers and refreshments.
