MOUNT CARMEL - The Council of Catholic Women and Rosary Altar Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church met Aug. 7 in the parish hall.

President Theresa Conniff brought the meeting to order with prayers to Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Good Counsel and the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes were approved as read. Debbie Gownley gave the treasurer's report.

Lois Sejuit was selected vice president due to the resignation of Mary Janet Rudisill.

The 25th and over wedding anniversary Mass will be held at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 20 at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Lykens. Dinner will follow Mass. More information will follow in the parish bulletin.

The religious appreciation dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Wayside Inn. Cost of the dinner is $15.

The council will hold a bakeless bake sale the weekend of Sept. 6 and 7.

Hostesses for the next meeting, to be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 4, are Theresa Conniff and Diane Darrah.

The meeting was closed with prayers for active, sick and deceased members and a prayer for peace in the Middle East. Refreshments were served, followed by bingo.
