Officers resign, Knights bar is closed indefinitely
SHAMOKIN - The Shamokin Knights of Columbus Home Association, also known as the Casey Club, which operates the bar at 400 E. Independence St., has been closed since Monday due to the resignation of its officers.
Shamokin Knights of Columbus Council 458 Grand Knight Andy Stefanowicz said the home association owns the building and manages the bar. Since all of its officers resigned Monday, the club must remain closed because it needs officers to operate a liquor license.
Stefanowicz explained that the Knights of Columbus and its home association are separate entities. But in order to belong to the home association, one must be a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He said the bar will remain closed indefinitely.
The grand knight said a special meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at the Knights building to discuss the future of the home association and possibly elect new officers.
