SHAMOKIN - Mae M. Tharp, 87, of 170 E. Dewart St., died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, in Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township.

Born in Coal Township Sept. 24, 1922, she was a daughter of the late James and Anna (Hudock) Malone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Tharp, in 1982.

She was formerly employed by the Arrow Shirt Company in Shamokin.

Mrs. Tharp was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township, and the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union.

Survivors include a goddaughter, Karen Blackway, of Elysburg.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Albert, Raymond and Edward.
