Church to hold contemporary worship
ELYSBURG - Elysburg Alliance Church, 113 Alpha Ave., will offer a contemporary worship service at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 and 27.
The service features contemporary Christian music and a meaningful message. All are welcome. Refreshments will be provided following the service.

Pro-life blessings at Divine Redeemer
MOUNT CARMEL - In conjunction with Respect Life Week and to awaken awareness, encourage prayer and recognize the precious gift of life, the Rev. John Szada, pastor of Divine Redeemer Church, will offer a blessing to babies and children after all Masses this weekend. All are welcome.
Masses will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Saturday and 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Ashland Legion plans dedication
ASHLAND - The Bernard J. Dolan American Legion Post 434 will conduct the dedication and grand opening of its new headquarters at Centre and Fifth streets at 1 p.m. Nov. 3.
All are invited to attend the ceremony for the new building, which replaces one destroyed by fire in 2008.
Line Mountain craft show scheduled
HERNDON - The 21st annual Line Mountain Football Boosters holiday craft show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Line Mountain Junior-Senior High School, 187 Line Mountain Road, Route 225. Admission is free.
The craft show will include a craft raffle, food, refreshments, a bake sale and a sale of Line Mountain spirit wear. New crafters are welcome. For information, call 425-2011.
SCA to hold developmental screening
CATAWISSA - A free developmental screening for children aged 3 and 4 who are residents of the Southern Columbia Area School District is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Nov. 14 at G.C. Hartman Elementary Center.
The screening will cover hearing, speech, vision, gross and fine motor skills, personal and social skills, adaptive behavior, cognitive skills and height and weight.

Shamokin Area board meeting
COAL TOWNSHIP - The regular monthly meeting of the Shamokin Area School Board will be held Tuesday. The work session begins at 7 p.m. in the board conference room, followed immediately by the voting meeting.
C.T. alumni monthly meeting canceled
COAL TOWNSHIP - The planned meeting of Coal Township Alumni Association on Tuesday has been canceled.
The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Coal Township Municipal Building, 805 W. Lynn St. All anniversary and general representatives of classes are asked to attend.
