Meteorologist to preach homilies
MOUNT CARMEL - The Rev. Tim Marcoe, a meteorologist and chaplain at Bloomsburg University, and administrator of Christ the King Parish in Benton, will preach the homilies for the annual Eucharistic devotions, "40 Hours," at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. All services are at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday, with the solemn closing at the same time Tuesday.
All the children and teenagers in the parish are invited to bring a handwritten prayer to present before the altar for the closing.
Kulpmont Knights to begin ARC drive
COAL TOWNSHIP - Kulpmont Knights of Columbus Council 4281 will begin its annual "Measure Up" fund drive with collections April 4 to 6 at Walmart and Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont.
Funds raised during the drive will be donated to the Northumberland County Chapter of the ARC of Pa., a non-profit organization providing advocacy and resources for citizens with developmnental disabilities.
The collections will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Walmart, after the 5:30 p.m. Mass Saturday, April 5, and the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. masses Sunday, April 6, at Holy Angels Church.
Bark for life meeting set
MOUNT CARMEL - An organizational meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 for the Coal Region Bark For Life event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The meeting will be held at Mount Carmel Town Park, where the Bark for Life will be held. Any relay participant who is interested in volunteering for the event is asked to attend. Town Park was selected as the meeting site to allow everyone to see the layout of the park and its logistical aspects.
The Coal Region Bark for Life will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 21.
