Bloodmobile today at Grace Lutheran
SHAMOKIN - Grace Lutheran Church, Chestnut and Seventh streets, will host an American Red Cross Bloodmobile from 1 to 6 p.m. today, in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
Blood donations are sought from people 17 years or older, who weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in reasonable good health and have not given blood for 56 days. Each pint donated can help several people when it is broken down. Registering and donating takes about an hour and provides the gift of life to at least one person in need.
Fall music festival a success
SHAMOKIN - Approximately 80 people attended St. John's United Church of Christ's second annual Fall Music Festival, held Sunday in the church's parking lot on Grant Street.
Opening remarks, welcome and prayer were offered by pastor Dr. Robert B. Peiffer. The hymn song, accompanied by Vic Boris, was led by Eugene Boughner. The festival began with recorded music and also contemporary Christian music was played and sung by members of St. John's Praise Team, which included Geof Levan, Karen Peiffer, Joan Gane, Angela Braun and Margaret Jasper.
Other special features included vocal selections by Angela Braun, Lydia Bomgardner, Geof Levan, Eugene Boughner, Gary Christ, Ann Nowaskie and the youth choir, Kate Flynn, Chloe Frost, Abbey Diorio, Xavier Lehman, Brianne Bendas and Brittany Bendas.
Refreshments were available throughout the festival. Monetary and food donations were given to the Manna for the Many food pantry.
