Conservation award nods requested
The Northumberland County Conservation District is currently accepting applications and nominations for several awards available to area students.
Awards are: Conservation Organization of the Year, Conservation District Patch for Boy Scouts, Don Cotner Sr. Memorial Scholarship, Environmental Educator of the Year and Raymond D. and Mable E. Memorial Scholarship (for Line Mountain seniors only).
Detailed award information, as well as applications, is available at www.nccdpa.org. Applications for awards must be received by July 1.
Award winners will be recognized at the Conservation District's Annual Awards Picnic, scheduled for Aug. 7. Winners will be contacted immediately after being selected in early July. The Northumberland County Conservation District has been honoring individuals and organizations for their dedication to conservation for 60 years.

Learn to eat well on budget
NORTHUMBERLAND - Penn State Extension will present a six-part series "Eat Right When Money's Tight" for caregivers of children under 20 years who also have limited resources.
The workshop will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 6 and 7, 13 and 14, and 20 and 21 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Susquehanna Valley at 265 Point Township Drive, next to Surplus Outlet.
Instructor Cyndi Clayton will discuss planning meals on a limited budget, fixing food safely, how much and what should a family eat, and making better choices for healthier foods and drinks.
Participants will prepare and share a community meal each session, and all clients who complete the program will receive a prize bag and Penn State graduation certificate.
Door prizes awarded at the completion of the program include 10 $25 Weis gift cards and small appliances.
