HOME grant applicants sought
COAL TOWNSHIP - Applicants are sought for Coal Township's federal HOME grant program.
The township was awarded a $350,000 grant last year to make renovations to 14 owner-occupied homes in the township's east end, including villages.
Any qualified township resident who lives east of Shamokin is eligible to apply. Applications are available at the township municipal building, 805 W. Lynn St.
Lobster Fest set
ELYSBURG - Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church will hold a Lobster Fest Saturday, Aug. 23, on the church grounds.
Dinners will be served beginning at 6 p.m. Live and steamed lobsters will be available for pickup from 2 to 4 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade soup and dessert will also be available. Live and steamed lobsters and lobster dinners must be pre-ordered by Aug. 3 by calling the parish office at 570-672-2302 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Blind Chitlin Kahunas will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. An annual basket and prize raffle and children's activities will be featured.
