Snow emergencies declared
n Mount Carmel Mayor Philip Cimino said a snow emergency is in effect today, having started at midnight.
Parking is prohibited on Third Street from Birch to Market, on the Avenue from Poplar to Market, on Market from the Avenue to Fifth, and on Fifth from Market to Pine until the storm ends so PennDOT can plow to the curb.
Also, the snow emergency is in effect for Oak Street from the Avenue to Seventh Street from midnight Thursday until plowing is finished.
Any vehicles not moved will be subject to ticketing and towing. Citizens are also reminded to not pile snow around fire hydrants and that, if they can, to clean around them.
n Kulpmont Mayor Bernard P. Novakoski announced Tuesday that a snow emergency was in effect starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday along Route 61 (Chestnut Street). Parking will be prohibited along Chestnut Street until the snow stops and is plowed back to the curb by PennDOT. Vehicles of violators will be ticketed and or towed at the owner's expense.
PennDOT centers closed Monday
HARRISBURG - All PennDOT driver license and photo centers will be closed Saturday through Monday in observance of Presidents' Day.
Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online at www.dmv.state.pa.us.
As reported in a story Wednesday, Kelly McElwee is the current club manager/steward as listed on the liquor license for the Jan Sobieski Club in Kulpmont. To be clear, she was not the manager at the time of violations against the club between Jan. 1, 2013 and Sept. 4.
