Churches invited by NCCD to take part in Stewardship Week
SUNBURY - The Northumberland County Conservation District (NCCD) is sponsoring the annual Stewardship Week from April 28 to May 5.
In an effort to encourage the community to be good stewards of our natural resources, the NCCD is inviting local churches to be involved with this annual program. This year's theme is "Where Does Your Water Shed?"
Churches located in Northumberland County have their choice of bulletin covers, inserts or litanies for their congregations that pertain to the "Water Shed" theme. The outreach materials, which are available free of charge, can be used at a church service of their choice throughout Soil Stewardship Week or at a time of their choosing.
In 1955, the National Association of Conservation Districts began this national program to encourage Americans to focus on stewardship. Stewardship Week is officially celebrated from the last Sunday in April to the first Sunday in May. It is one of the world's largest conservation-related observances.
For more information about this program or to request materials, contact Judy Becker at 495-4665, extension 305 or by email at jbecker@nccdpa.org. An order form is also available at www.nccdpa.org. Sample materials are available at the NCCD office on Plum Creek Road outside of Sunbury. The deadline to order is March 29.
