Fellowship kitchen to serve meal
ASHLAND - The Shepherd's Table fellowship kitchen will offer a free meal from 3 to 5 p.m., or until the food is gone, Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 35 N. Ninth St. Attendees are asked to enter through the rear entrance.
The meal is being served for those in need or who wish to socialize with others. Families are welcome. The meal is eat-in only, no takeouts will be available.
Appointments for kindergarten
COAL TOWNSHIP - The Shamokin Area School District is currently taking appointments for the 2014-15 kindergarten program. The appointments will be held March 3, 4, and 5 in the elementary building.
Parents can call the school office at 570-648-5721, extension 2900, to make an appointment. Children must be five years of age by the first day of school - tenatively scheduled for Monday, Sept. 8 - to qualify.
"Souper Bowl of Caring" today
Parishioners of churches throughout the area will take part in the "Souper Bowl of Caring" today. Those attending the church services of their choice are asked to donate $1 in cash and/or a can of soup to support Manna for the Many's food distribution program for those in need.
Representatives of churches participating are asked to call Grace Lutheran Church at 570-648-7534 between 1 and 3 p.m. to leave a message giving the amount of money and food collected.
