Business workshop set for Monday
SHAMOKIN - Participants are welcome to attend the First Step pre-business workshop, 9 to 11 a.m. Monday in Room 304 of the Northumberland County Career and Arts Center, 2 E. Arch St.
The workshop, presented by the Brush Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce and conducted by the Small Business Development Center, will provide information on starting a business.
The workshop is free, but attendees must register at http://www.bucknell.edu/script/sbdc/seminars.asp.
Proclamation salutes church
MOUNT CARMEL - Mount Carmel Borough Mayor J. Kevin Jones has proclaimed Monday as United Presbyterian Day in the borough in honor of the church's 125th anniversary.
Jones said the church has been an integral part of the history of Mount Carmel and has provided for the spiritual needs of the community since 1887.
The church members have served and represented the borough in various capacities and have contributed to the betterment of the nation, state and community, he said.
A party will be held at the church on Sunday, he said.
