Content for Shamokin's 150th anniversary booklet sought
SHAMOKIN - The News-Item, in conjunction with the Shamokin 150th Anniversary Committee, continues to seek input from local civic organizations, fire departments and other entities for the glossy-covered keepsake booklet being produced to document this special year in city history.
Topics and questions listed at the bottom of this article can be used as a guide. It's preferred that the information be submitted in story form, but it is permissible to provide a list of details from which a story will be compiled. Maximum word count is 300.
There is no cost. Note that churches have been contacted directly by letter.
Also, businesses are welcome to contact the newspaper about purchasing advertising in the booklet. Call the ad department at 570-644-6397, extension 4.
The booklet will be distributed to The News-Item's home subscribers as part of the July 2 edition, and another 2,000 will be presented to the anniversary committee, which will sell the book and keep the proceeds to help pay for the July 5 city celebration.
Please submit information no later than 4 p.m. Monday. It can be mailed or dropped off at 707 N. Rock St., Shamokin, Pa., 17872, or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
