Snow emergencies announced
Kulpmont and Mount Carmel officials have announced snow emergencies pending the storm expected Sunday and Monday.
n Kulpmont mayor Bernard P. Novakoski said a snow emergency will be in effect starting at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Parking is prohibited along Chestnut Street from that time until the snow stops and is plowed to the curb by PennDOT, the mayor said.
Anyone violating the order will be ticketed; vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense.
n Mount Carmel Mayor Philip Cimino said a snow emergency will go into effect at midnight Sunday.
Parking is prohibited Monday along Third Street from Birch to Market streets, along Avenue from Poplar to Market streets, along Market from Avenue to Fifth Street and along Fifth Street from Market to Pine streets until the storm ends and PennDOT can plow to the curb.
Parking is also prohibited along Oak Street from Avenue to Seventh Street from 5:30 a.m. Tuesday until the snow is cleared.
Any vehicles not moved are subject to ticketing and towing, Cimino said.
Citizens are reminded not to pile snow around fire hydrants.
Snow removal planned
SUNBURY - Snow will be removed from Market Street and all metered streets from 11 p.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday.
From 11 p.m. Tuesday to 8 a.m. Wednesday, the snow will be removed from Arch Street between Front Street to Sixth Street and from Wolverton Street and Chestnut Street.
From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, snow will be removed from Fairmont Avenue and Catawissa Avenue.
Residents must remove all vehicles from the streets during the listed times. Vehicles that are not moved may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.
Residents may throw snow into the parking lanes until plows reach their block. Residents may not throw snow in the streets after the plows have been through.
If the snow doesn't accumulate, the parking ban will be lifted.
