Pedestrian safety video wins awards
HARRISBURG - PennDOT's pedestrian safety video for elementary school students, "Walk this Way," recently won bronze in the training and safety categories for the 2014 Telly Awards.
"We take pride in our mission to make travel safer in Pennsylvania, and educating our children on safe behaviors is an important part of that mission," said PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch. "As we continue to reach out to our customers in new ways, we're encouraged that our video was selected as a winner in this prestigious competition."
The video is part of the department's four-video series aimed at educating children, motorists and parents about pedestrian safety. "Walk this Way" uses Guy Walker, an animated pedestrian sign character, to show elementary aged children how to walk safely.
The videos, produced by PennDOT and JPL, can be viewed on the department's YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/pennsylvaniaDOT.
