Macadamia nut cookies recalled

CARLISLE - GIANT Food Stores, announced it removed from sale its Simply Enjoy Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies because the packages contain white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. The product contains macadamia nuts, a known allergen that is not declared on the ingredient list. The following product is included in this recall: Simply Enjoy Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies, 7 oz., UPC 68826713513 with lot code 140509AR. GIANT has received no reports of illnesses to date.

Re-Creation at Community Day today

HEGINS - The 38th annual Hegins Community Day will take place in Hegins Park today. The food stands will open at 3 p.m. and will serve completed chicken barbecue dinners, hamburgers, french fries and soft drinks.

Entertainment will begin at 4 p.m. with Re-Creation. Local talent will also be featured. Re-Creation will perform again at 6 p.m. There is plenty of free parking and no admission fee.

Overcoming regret a Lifetree topic

How to overcome regrets and make peace with the past will be discussed at Lifetree Cafe programs this coming week in Elysburg and Shamokin.

The program, "If Only: Living with Regret," features the filmed story of Chad Arnold, a man whose need for an organ transplant prompted his brother to volunteer to be a donor. Arnold's brother died as a result of the surgery, but he survived. Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available.

The program will be presented from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elysburg Presbyterian Church, 320 W. Valley Ave., Elysburg, and from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at 531 N. Market St., Shamokin.
