Police: Remember to lock your cars
MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police are asking residence to lock their vehicles, especially during the overnight hours.
Police said several thefts from vehicles have occurred recently in the late night hours.
Residents are also reminded to remove their vehicle keys and items of value from their vehicles.
The reminder comes less than a week after Zerbe Township Police Chief Robert John announced a spate of thefts occurring in vehicles in Trevorton. He also advised residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables.
Giant workers, customers give $558K
CARLISLE - Customers at GIANT Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets supported the annual in-store balloon campaign for Children's Miracle Network (CMN) and raised $558,361.
From June 22 through July 5, customers could purchase a CMN paper balloon for $1.
Over the past 18 years, Giant and Martin have raised more than $34 million for CMN hospitals throughout its market area, including this year, Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, The Janet Weis Children's Hospital at Geisinger, Children's National Medical Center, University of Virginia Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, Johns Hopkins Children's Center and Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
Children's Miracle Network hospitals, the alliance of premier hospitals for children, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals across North America.
