Host families needed for orchestra

COAL TOWNSHIP - The Shamokin Area music department is still in need of host families for participants in the 2013 PMEA District 8 Orchestra Festival to be held at the middle-high school from Wednesday to Jan. 12.

The festival could be canceled if enough housing is not scheduled, preventing any District 8 student from advancing to the region and state levels of the competition, said Sharon Styer, PMEA District 8 president.

Anyone in the Mount Carmel and Shamokin areas who could help are asked to contact Styer at 339-1500 extension 3153.

Host families must be able to pick up the students at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Students would be at the homes to sleep, shower and eat breakfast. They would need a ride to the school each morning Jan. 10 to 12 and home each evening as per the schedule.

All meals other than breakfast will be provided by the school.

The driver of the students must be 21 years of age or older as per the PMEA bylaws.
