Drop-off point for prescriptions

COAL TOWNSHIP - Chief of Police William Carpenter said unused or outdated prescription medications can be dropped off at a box in the hallway at Coal Township Municipal Building, 805 W. Lynn St., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Benefit to help sight impaired man

LEWISBURG - A vendor party is scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Baylor Room at Best Western Country Cupboard to benefit David Burns, a Selinsgrove area man who needs a seeing-eye dog.

Burns is the husband of Pam Burns, president of the Brush Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce and manager of First National Bank of Pennsylvania in Shamokin.

As of Wednesday, there were 23 vendors planning to participate. Each will donate a gift basket for a Chinese auction. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and gift-wrapping for a nominal fee.

Food distribution set for Saturday

MOUNT CARMEL - The Mount Carmel Borough Food Pantry will hold its monthly distribution from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Notary Shop, 215 S. Oak St., for borough residents who had previously signed up. Residents of the Mount Carmel Mid Rise are asked to meet in the lobby for 8:30 a.m.
