SASD orientation program
COAL TOWNSHIP - The Shamokin Area School District has announced the schedule for orientation programs for the 2010-2011 school year.
K-4 orientation for parents will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, in the Shamokin Area High School auditorium. Orientation for K-4 students and parents will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10 in assigned elementary school classrooms. K-4 a.m. students will meet from 9 to 9:30 a.m. while K-4 p.m. and Pre-K Counts students will meet from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
Kindergarten orientation for parents will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, in the Shamokin Area Elementary School Annex gym. Orientation for students and parents will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, in the assigned kindergarten classroom in the annex.
Seventh grade orientation will be held from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, in the Shamokin Area Middle/High School auditorium.
Floral arranging workshop
NORTHUMBERLAND - The Northumberland County Master Gardeners will be presenting a "Floral Bouquets Made Easy" workshop at 9 a.m. Saturday at Red Poppy, Route 11, Point Township, Northumberland. Instructor will be Iris Haseloff from the Red Poppy.
Join for a fun and interactive floral arranging program. Using fresh cut flowers right from the garden, attendees will learn some basics about arranging for a variety of vases, including Ikebana. Participants should bring along a lawn chair. A small $5 fee will be charged to cover the costs of materials.
Registration is required for this workshop. Call the Penn State Cooperative Extension Office at 988-3950 to register. Workshops are handicapped accessible.
