Meadowview accepting applications

PAXINOS - As of the beginning of the month, Meadowview Christian Academy is accepting applications for the 2010-11 school year. The school is non-denominational and based on Biblical teachings. Students are accepted from various local school districts and include grades pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. Naval battle with Japanese is topic

SUNBURY - The Susquehanna Civil War Round Table will meet at 7 p.m. March 25 at the Degenstein Community Library, 40 S. Fifth St.

The program topic will be "The battle of Shimonoseki," presented by Mikito Muroya.

In the summer of 1863, the U.S.S. Wyoming was searching for the C.S.S. Alabama. The Union vessel engaged the navy of a militant Japanese faction that had been attacking foreign shipping. This little-known engagement marked the first conflict between U.S. and Japanese forces.

Baby photo contest under way

The Relay For Life of Line Mountain baby photo contest, sponsored by the Skyline Automotive Team, announces the businesses at which the contest entries will be displayed.

Categories are newborn to 24 months and 25 months to age 4. First prize in each is a $50 savings bond; second prize is a $15 bond and third prize is a $10 bond. Winners will be announced at the final day of the relay, June 12, at the Line Mountain Jr./Sr. High School football stadium.

The child with the most donations will be the winner in each category. Donations should be in the form of 25 cents or more.
