Road construction requires detours

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Motorists are advised that two sections of the Route 4012 (Snydertown Road, Bottle Drive) project will involve daylight detours.

The detours will be scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, and take place in two phases along the north-south section of Route 4012, Bottle Drive.

Both phases will use the same signed detour - Route 487, Route 54 and Penn Avenue.

The first section is the southernmost, between Route 487 and Shamrock Road. The detours along the first section will start March 18 and will be finished on approximately April 26.

The second section is between Shamrock Road and Penn Avenue. The work and detours along that section are scheduled from approximately April 26 to June 1.

The entire project will include drainage pipe replacements, new drainage inlets, roadway base repairs, tree and brush removal, guide rail upgrade, milling of the existing pavement and two layers of new blacktop, centerline rumble strips, ditch cleaning and new pavement markings.

PennDOT awarded the $2,640,640 contract to Eastern Industries, Inc. from Winfield, Union County. The work is being funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by late August.
