Christian institute begins semester

SUNBURY - Central Penn Christian Training Institute will start its spring semester Monday. It continues until March 1.

Classes are held from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays at Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, 976 Mile Hill Road.

Classes being offered are Biblical Beliefs and Gospel of John.

Beacon Lodge marks 62nd year

MOUNT UNION - PA Lions Beacon Lodge Camp announced its 2010 camping season. This season marks 62 consecutive years of camping.

Beacon Lodge is supported by the Lions of Pennsylvania, including the Shamokin Area Lions Club.

Beacon Lodge's mission is to provide individuals with special needs the opportunity to enjoy a camping experience, encompassing recreational, educational and personal adjustment. Special emphasis is placed on interests for recreation, learning and to encourage new challenges.

A dual program is carried out for children and adults simultaneously, but each group enjoys separate activities. Children are accommodated in cabins, while adults are housed in dormitories.

The 2010 camping season opens June 5 and closes Aug. 10. Camp sessions are six or 10 days, based on eligibility criteria.

Activities may include bowling, swimming, arts and crafts, music, drama, rock climbing, spelunking, fishing, paddle-boating, canoeing, kayaking, archery, nature study, games, kickball, basketball, lawn games and aerobics.
