SUNBURY - A Northumberland man was charged with the rape of a child, occuring over the last four years.

Adam Vigo, 37, of Northumberland was placed in Northumberland County Prison on $250,000 cash bail after being arraigned Tuesday on charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, statutory sexual assault, all first-degree felony counts.

He was also charged with the third-degree felonies of indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of a child.

Sunbury City Police Sgt. Christopher Blase reported in a press release that Vigo lived in two different Sunbury residences, one on Haas Avenue, and another on North 8th Street, between 2007 and 2013. According to the victim, who police described as an 11-year-old female, Vigo engaged in sexual acts with her for the last four years in the two residences.

The information came out when the female was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center of the Susquehanna Valley.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum, of Sunbury. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to 121 years in prison.
