MOUNT CARMEL - Divine Mercy Hall, in the 400 block of West Cherry Street, will be the site of "No Room at the Inn," a display of locally owned Nativities, Dec. 4 through 6.
"No Room at the Inn" originated in California in 1993 with a twofold purpose; to focus on the humble birth of Jesus 2,000 years ago and to help those for whom there is also "no room at the inn" - the poor and homeless. It was organized locally by Jim Madden and Peg Bilder, local residents and former classmates at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, graduating in 1971.
Donations from last year's display added up to $875 each for Manna for the Many and Cornerstone Community Center.
Last year's event was hosted by Holy Angels Church in Kulpmont on the first weekend in December with 125 nativity sets from around the world exhibited.
Donations will be requested at the door with all proceeds to benefit St. Vincent DePaul Society (Divine Redeemer) and Salvation Army.
For more information, call 339-5117 in the evenings by Friday.
