ATLAS - The Mount Carmel man who was injured after his bicycle was clipped by a car Friday afternoon was still listed in serious condition Monday evening at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, according to a nursing supervisor.

Robert Seibert, 67, was traveling northbound on Route 61 shortly before 4:15 p.m. Friday when the silver and red Mt. Fury Roadmaster bicycle he was riding was hit by a white Nissan Murano driven northbound by Rose Marie Ditchey, of Mount Carmel, on Route 61 near the entrance to Cole's Hardware, Atlas.

Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matt Filarski was the responding officer and was unable to be reached Tuesday evening for further comment on the accident, which was still under investigation Friday night.

I wish there were more details about just what happened to cause this unfortunate accident. I know many drivers become impatient with cyclists on the road and drivers actions sometimes imperil the cyclist.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but don't cyclist have the same rights and obligations on the road as do motorists?
