MCA Elks Students of the month
Student of the Month is senior Ali Varano, a daughter of Rob and Lisa Varano. Ali's activities include basketball, soccer, track and field, and cross country. She is the senior class president and also a member of FTA, Spanish and Interact clubs, and the National Honor Society. Her interests include playing sports and spending time with friends. She plans to attend Bucknell University to major in Biology and has committed to run track.
Junior Student of the Month is eleventh-grade student Kayla Witt, a daughter of Norm and Leanne Witt, of Kulpmont. She is a captain of the MCA color guard, a reporter for MCA-LIVE and is involved in the spring musical. Kayla is a distinguished honor roll student and has previously won Elks Teenager of the Month, the Junior High Pride Award and the School Board Merit Award. Kayla enjoys spending time with her family and friends and reading. Kayla's future plans are to attend college.
The Teenager of the Month is ninth-grade student, Christina Kleman, a daughter of Joseph and Marie Kleman, of Locust Gap. Some of her activities include JV cheerleading, art club, banner committee, and art classes at Sassani Art Studio. Christina is an honors student and a member of the National Honor society. Some of her previous awards include the Junior High Pride Award, Who's Who Among Junior High Students and Youth Quest Leadership Award. Christina enjoys traveling, art, history and spending time with her friends and family. Her future plans are to attend college.
The Junior Teen of the Month is seventh-grade student, Samantha Darrup, a daughter of Julie Darrup, of Kulpmont, and Joseph Darrup, of Mount Carmel. Samantha participates in marching band, junior band, pep band, jazz band and chorus and is an altar server at Divine Redeemer Church. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, being with her family and friends, meeting new people and getting involved in the community. Samantha recently qualified for the Middle School Band Festival at Jersey Shore. Her future plans are to continue in a music career and participate in scoliosis awareness.
