Masser will seek second term
HARRISBURG - State Rep. Kurt Masser announced he will seek a second term to represent the residents of the 107th District.
"We've accomplished a lot in our first term, but there is so much more to do. I want to keep being an independent voice for our community in Harrisburg," Masser said.
Masser pointed to his efforts to get the state's fiscal house in order after spending increases of more than 45 percent over the previous eight years.
"When I came to Harrisburg, we had a $4.5 billion deficit and everyone assumed that taxes would be raised," Masser said. "Instead, we rolled up our sleeves and made the tough choices that no one had made in decades and balanced the budget without one penny of new taxes for our working families or small businesses."
Masser also cited his work on behalf of improving the economic climate to make Pennsylvania more competitive and to spur job creation.
"Our first challenge was getting our fiscal house in order, and then once we cut spending, we turned our attention to pro-job pieces of legislation like the Fair Share Act," Masser said. "This important piece of tort reform changed our state's lawsuit lottery mentality and protected small business and consumers alike."
Masser pointed to his success in delivering millions of dollars in flood remediation and relief money for areas hit the hardest by last year's weather.
"I have been able to work with leaders in Harrisburg to make sure the 107th District gets its fair share, and no where is that more evident than in the flood money's we delivered," Masser said.
Masser said he has several second-term agenda items, but none more important than continuing to work to improve the local economy.
"The most important thing that we can do in Harrisburg is lessen regulation and pass meaningful tax reform," Masser said. "These reforms will help us attract new jobs and increase revenue to the state."
