Marshals Service arrests unregistered sex offender
RICHFIELD - The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a sex offender who failed to register his new address after moving from New Jersey to an acquaintance's home in West Perry Township, Snyder County.
Chad Eric Davis, 38, formerly of Maple Shade, N.J., was arrested without incident Wednesday in the 13000 block of Route 35, less than two miles east of Richfield. He was arraigned as a fugitive from justice before Magisterial District Judge Lori Hackenberg and committed to the Snyder County Prison in lieu of $150,000 cash bail.
New Jersey officials had previously charged Davis with failure to register as a sex offender and with a violation of parole, and asked the marshals to locate and apprehend him.
In February 2009, Davis was convicted of aggravated sexual assault in Warren County, N.J. This conviction required him to register as a sex offender. He was discovered in August as having moved to Snyder County. An investigation culminated with his arrest Wednesday, assisted by state police.
